- New video!
We are very pleased to present a video for The Crystal Spring--a film by Marc Bollmann, co-directed by Kelly McDonald. We recommend that you load it in HD, turn down the lights, and play it at full screen.
Our sincere thanks to Marc for his hard work in producing such a beautiful piece, and to Kelly for traveling from Pittsburgh to take her place at the helm as well. Thanks are also due to Jen for making the trip from the Iron City in order to discharge camera duties; Kelly Glover for running around in the snow on one of the coldest weekends in recent memory wearing nothing but a thin, white dress; to Holly for her hospitality extended to a large, shivering, soaked crew; Jamie for cutting a handsome figure while slogging through the woods with us; Dee for hanging out and providing moral support; Kevin and Lauren for opening their home (and pantry) in Nunda; Pam/Amber/Amy/Lauren for doing the makeup; Mark/Kevin for supplying tools; and Elissa for braving the elements to get stills. The Lobster Quadrille also wishes to thank John Powers and John Jameson & Sons for making the enormous quantities of bracing Irish whiskey that sustained us during the shoot.
Enjoy!
- Guest spot on the Stuart Bedasso show
Head over to the Stuart Bedasso show homepage to hear the latest episode, featuring one of our members and a live performance of "The Unexamined Life."
Thanks to everyone who came out the Keg! It was a great night. Looking forward to getting back down there again.
- Lots and lots and lots of new photos
Lookie at the gallery--hell of a lot of new photos from Amber, Elissa, Marc, and Kelly documenting winter 2009/2010 exploits. Fun fun.
- New t-shirts available!
You must see the new shirts! A nice black number with the new logo and a white cami with Elissa's line-o'-lobsters design. On the store page.
- CONCERT REVIEW: Elvis Birthday Bash, Lobster Quadrille, Lovesick Heartstabbers
- By the time you were aware of the combined calamity and effect, you were already swept up in it. It was inspiring, haunting, and incredible, with frontman Solomon Blaylock leading the whole damned revival with utter glee. It was as if he had the whole flock in the lifeboat, but the lake was on fire. [Read More...]
- The Lobster Quadrille
- The Lobster Quadrille presents flawlessly, dressed like high-society Southerners (circa 1940), and they jam with a bible-thumping seriousness. The result is a raucous jubilee played by the ghosts of culture past. [Read More...]
- News! Tickets! Misprints!
Um, just in case you picked up the print copy of Metromix Rochester this week, let us assure that NO ONE IN THE LOBSTER QUADRILLE IS A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS, PRACTICING OR OTHERWISE. Fortunately the nice lady who wrote the article was able to correct the editorial online, but the print edition maintains the error. Yikes. J-Dubs everywhere are doubtless chagrined.
As we have been noting over and over again of late, this Friday (Jan 8) is your chance to catch the LQ live and GRATIS with The Lovesick Heartstabbers and Danny Deutch (must be a German feller). Come on out and spend the money you saved on the cover at the BAR.
THEN, on Wednesday, January 13 (the absurd proximity is not lost on us, gentle reader), catch us at The Club at Water Street in the august company of Devil Springs. Tix are $5 at the door...a bit more through Ticketmaster...but Email us and we'll get 'em to you for a paltry THREE CLAMS. That's how we make dough on this one, kids, so give us a holler.
Then we'll recuperate a bit (while making sure to catch Schwindler and Big Ben at the Bug Jar on Wed, Jan 20--not to be missed) before coming back out Downstairs at the German House in February. See y'all soon.
- Leader of the local Southern Gothic band talks about sex, death religion and other influences
- We really used to play up that satanic tent revival thing — which is definitely an aspect of what we do. I’m sure it’ll always be an aspect, but if you actually listen to this CD and look at the lyrics, a lot of them deal with sort of metaphysical concerns. There really isn’t a lot of the explicit faux-religiosity thing coming through. [Read More...]
- Bienvenue, amis!
Welcome to the new and improved LQ Web site! We tried to incorporate all the feedback we've received over the last few months and put something together that's more informative and easier to navigate--poke around and let us know what you think. Have a look at the ever-expanding gallery, sign up for the Email list and RSS feed, check out the other new features, and send us a message if there's anything you'd like to see. Thanks to Kevin and Jamie for getting us going, and to Elissa for the new logo! See you in the new year!
- The Devil's In The Details - A Look At The New Lobster Quadrille Album
- Live, the Lobster Quadrille – which at the time of this recording consisted of seven members but has since expanded – summons a formidable, muscular sound with a high measure of precision and command. In fact, it’s the band’s ability to pull back that ultimately puts a stronger accent on its aggressive side. [Read More...]
